Training is Good for Business - Summer 2010

Training is not only good for employees it’s good for business too. Eureka Steel Fixing is just one company who is better off for putting employees through BLF training programs.
 
Managing Director Helen Paximadas says she has used the training program to promote from within. Their first group went through CSTC in 2005 and today one of those trainees is the General Manager.

Old Style Paper Tickets - Invalid if not converted to new licence format

All old style paper-based tickets issued in Queensland before March 1992 must be converted to the new licence format to remain valid.

BIG NUMBERS FOR TRAINEES

The slow process for government and council approvals,  combined with the recent downturn in unit sales,  is slowing progress in our sector. Normally at this time of the financial year we have an oversubscribed intake of trainees and are waiting for the end of June to come around so we can enrol more.

After a slow start to the 2009/2010 trainee intake due to scarcity of work, I am pleased to report that since the last journal we have exceeded our target for the year and have already started signing trainees for the 2010/2011 intake.

BLF Trainees to the Rescue

After a recent and very unfortunate dog attack on one of our trainers CSTC were left in need of assistance in supervising a small concrete pour. As is so often the case the call for assistance was answered by our BLF members and this time it was one of the industries young up and comers, Cameron Rae.
